What Does Avery Injury Law Do?

Avery Injury Law is a St. Louis law firm focused on personal injury cases. The team represents people and families affected by car crashes, truck accidents, dog bites, workplace injuries, premises liability incidents, and other injuries caused by negligence.

The firm’s mission is to help clients seek justice and pursue the compensation supported by the evidence and applicable law. The team investigates claims, gathers records, communicates with insurance companies, negotiates disputed matters, and prepares cases for court when necessary.

Avery Injury Law emphasizes open communication. Clients receive updates, explanations of the legal process, and opportunities to make informed decisions as their cases progress.

Founding Attorney

Jim Avery

Jim Avery founded Avery Injury Law in St. Louis after his own experience with serious injuries from a car crash that required extensive surgery. That experience informs his understanding of the disruption an injury can cause.

Jim earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri St. Louis, where he served as Student Body President. He earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law and excelled in trial advocacy.

Jim served in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995 and later joined the Missouri Army National Guard after September 11, 2001. He completed combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with units that performed improvised explosive device destruction missions. He received the Army Commendation Medal for his work locating and destroying explosive devices.

After his Iraq tour, Jim completed officer training and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He retired from military service in 2022 after 23 years. His experience under pressure continues to shape his disciplined preparation and representation of injured clients.

Jim has represented portions of South St. Louis during multiple terms in the Missouri House of Representatives. He also serves on the board of the Hero Network, which supports military families and first responders. Outside of his legal and community work, he is a pilot who enjoys flying his Cirrus aircraft.

Personal Injury Attorney

Ben Coudret

Ben joined Avery Injury Law in November 2024 after spending much of his legal career as a defense litigation attorney at one of the country’s largest law firms. He represented insurance companies and corporate defendants in civil cases in state and federal courts. That experience gives him insight into defense strategies when representing injured clients.

Originally from southern Indiana, Ben came to the St. Louis area in 2011 to attend Lindenwood University. He played baseball, earned all conference honors, and was named Lindenwood’s 2014 Male Student Athlete of the Year. He graduated cum laude in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management.

Ben earned his law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in May 2017. He was a Dean’s Scholar and Vice President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Association. His coursework included Trial Advocacy I and II, Civil Practice, and the Criminal Defense Clinic.

After law school, Ben briefly represented plaintiffs in employment and civil rights matters before focusing on civil defense litigation. He now uses that background to guide personal injury clients from the initial consultation through final resolution.

Outside the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and growing family. He follows St. Louis and Indiana sports and enjoys outdoor activities, golf, and softball.

Miranda

Miranda joined Team Avery on June 1, 2020. She entered the legal field in March 2011 and has remained focused on supporting people affected by serious injuries.

Her commitment began after seeing the life changing effects of traumatic incidents. She has spent more than a decade learning, researching, and investigating injury claims to help clients and their families understand the process.

Miranda values direct client support and detailed case work. Outside the office, she enjoys animals, travel, fishing, and time with family and friends.
